i am in love with mother Earth

Thich Nhat Hanh just posted a new Enso to his facebook page. Thich Naht Hanh has a facebook page? Who knew? The center of the Enso reads, "i am in love with mother Earth." There is so much depth to the simple phrase found within. It makes me think of another phrase that hit me during an intensive with Peg and Flint, "In love there is no i or you." I am sure this hit me, not because of my own mental cognition, but because of the power of the…

Meditation tomorrow at City Hall

In Zen it is often said that Truth is unspeakable. The Tao Te Ching says that the Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao. Call it what you want: Zen, Tao, God, Kundalini Rising, Christ Consiousness, Synapses in the Mind of the Universe, Buddha-Nature, or just simply Life Unfolding; there is only this one activity and this activity moves in stillness. Everything has its place in reflecting the whole (even the 1%) and is here to bring forth…

Such Immense Beauty Within the Flames

Such Immense Beauty Within the Flames

I'd like to write a short poem that exposes the burning and naked existence of life

and say something that shakes the very foundations of what we believe.

Something that might open us to that which is beyond belief.

Something that might even make us laugh in the process.

Although, humor seems elusive…

Eric, what a wonderful day Saturday was!  You did such a fine job presenting the workshop.  Thanks for all the handouts!  And I really enjoyed getting to know Stephanie better.  It was a great way to spend such a gorgeous day.  I am still feeling the affects of the experience.  In fact, I'm working on my future workshop this afternoon.  You are such a good model!

Don't know how you feel about this, but I was wondering how you would feel about giving me contact information for Laura and Alicia?

Looking forward to seeing you and Stephanie again.  Soon I hope!

I have it on my calendar!  If you could use my help in any way, just let me know.  Could you send me a link to the library so I'll be able to find it?

Eric, I was so inspired by and envious of you jumping right in and getting the Joanna Macy training going at the library.  What day will that be?  I'd love to come if it fits my schedule and you don't mind.  I'm afraid it might be April 22; I already have a commitment that day.

Hey Eric,

I'm going to be at Appamada at 7pm too. Precepts class, right? I have it in my calendar, but I forgot what the thing is. We could meet after morning program, get food, and hang out at my house for the play reading.

Whatchyouthink?

Thank you for researching these bodhisattvas, Eric. Makes sense..... wisdom and compassion joined into practice. I need to adopt Samantabhadra, whom I have never even heard of. Unlike Peg who does a lot, I am prone to lethargy and all my wisdom and compassion does not add up to much without some action, some appamada if you will, heeding the other two. I also really admire his role in the Vajrayana tradition.

Appamada is not just the occasional mindful thought or attentive state of mind, it’s actually a commitment to being attentive. It’s more than just a meditative state of mind, it’s more than just being mindful. It has to do with that primary ethical or moral orientation we have in life, with which we bring into being whatever activity we’re engaged in. Whether in formal meditation, in our interactions with other people, in our social concerns, or in our political choices, it’s the energetic cherishing of what we regard as good.
