Have you seen the "Prayer to Mother Earth" at http://www.plumvillage.org/articles/from-the-monastics/330-prayer-t... and the more comprehensive "Intimate Conversation with Mother Earth" at http://www.plumvillage.org/articles/from-the-monastics/329-intimate...
Both are wonderful compliments to this calligraphy..
Comment by Lisa Kuntz on December 16, 2011 at 8:16am Thank you for sharing! I read it several times. From this simple phrase, endless unfolding. The esthetic presentation and your explanation of the Enso bring deeper meaning to these few words.
I'll have to check out Thich's Facebook page. I think Thich, Flint, Peg, and other teachers have FB pages in order to reach out to more people, especially those who might not be able to make a connection with them otherwise. I have given some thought to this recently. Telecommunications can be an integral part of living out of the vow to liberate all beings, to share our spiritual paths, to remind us of our connectedness. It is another way for the global village to come to the teacher.
Appamada is not just the occasional mindful thought or attentive state of mind, it’s actually a commitment to being attentive. It’s more than just a meditative state of mind, it’s more than just being mindful. It has to do with that primary ethical or moral orientation we have in life, with which we bring into being whatever activity we’re engaged in. Whether in formal meditation, in our interactions with other people, in our social concerns, or in our political choices, it’s the energetic cherishing of what we regard as good.
